One of the most fun, and most important, parts of your project is meeting with a designer to discuss product options and come up with your design plan. At Dalton Carpet One, we love helping you make your dream space come to life! In order to maximize our time together and make sure we’re on the same page, here are some suggestions of what to bring to your appointment.
First, the best thing you can bring with you are lots of pictures. You can put all your Pinterest pins and Houzz idea books to good use during your appointment. We also encourage you to look through magazines and any other mediums you can find to pinpoint designs that appeal to you. Showing your designer photos of what you like lets them hone-in on your style much easier than you trying to describe what you’re looking for alone.
Have you thought about paint colors or are you trying to match the current paint colors in your house? Bring those color swatches with you! It’s much easier to put a design together when you have all of the elements laid out together. If you have fabrics you’re trying to pull in from pillows and linens, it’d be best if you brought them with you too!
Something you can’t exactly haul to the showroom with you is your current furniture. Try to snag a few photos of the pieces you’re wanting to keep in the space you’re designing, so those items can be factored into the design as well. If you have a rough sketch (we won’t judge!) of what the space looks like currently we can use this to help plan for your future space as well.
Other must-have information is your budget and what type of lifestyle elements you have to work with, like pets & kids. These two pieces of information are key to your interior designer. You don’t want them pulling products that are double what your budget can afford or not knowing you’ll need a stain-resistant carpet for all the juice, mud, and who knows what else your kids may find to cover your floors.
Lastly, we recommend you bring an open mind with you to the appointment. You may find your designer pulling products you hadn’t considered before or the products you loved may not fit your lifestyle. No matter what you choose, your designer will want to ensure you’re over the moon when you finish your home project, so trust them to guide you along the way.
*You also may want to bring some snacks, because you’ll probably be at your appointment for a good amount of time to get your design just right 🙂
